Hi All, I was wondering if you could do me a bit of a favor. I live in Greene County NY and last summer Hurricane Irene devastated several small towns and communities near me. On Facebook, I belong to a group called Neighbors Helping Neighbors. This group is trying to help rebuild these communities one family at a time. Right now they are running a donation drive for Prom dresses and here is where I thought you could help me. If you have any gently used Prom dresses, I can collect them from you and drop them off at the Donation Center. I’ll have flyers printed up with all the information at my vendor table. I’d like to start collecting this week at the Pender-Keady feis and also the Kerry Oster feis. I’ll also be collecting at the O’Rourke feis(2/4), Shamrock feis (2/5), Golden(2/19), Broesler (2/25), and Inishfree(2/26). The deadline for donations is March 15. I truly appreciate any help you can give me. I copied some information from the facebook page.

Prom Dress Drive
Neighbors helping Neighbors Greene County is currently collecting gently used prom and special occasion dresses to assist less fortunate students in Greene County this prom season. Our mission is to provide young women with the opportunities that others take for granted. The main initiative is to provide donated prom dresses to these students, many of whom live in low income households or are currently without a home due to the devastation of Hurricane Irene.

The O'Rourke Feis Committee is working hard on our upcoming feis, Saturday Feb 4th. We have decided on sashes for top three in Prelim and Open, and we are now offering beautiful perpetual trophies in ALL Prelim and Open championships including Adults.
Medal round for Open.

Which reminds me to ask those you still have a perpetual trophy, to return to us at Cara, KKO or Pender Keady.

Preparations are under way!!! We had our first feis meeting, and all committee chairpersons have been assigned. Our venue is secured, 2 large shuttle buses from 8am-8pm are secured, and our syllabus is being prepared. Mary Ryan is coordinating volunteers, so please contact her. Stay tuned for more updates.

When you pull in SUNY, parking is to the left, drop off is to the right. Shuttle will start at 7:30 and pick up at Performing Arts Center parking lot (W-1). Passengers can be dropped off at Physical Education building. Anyone wishing to walk from PAC to GYM, there will be neon signs pointing the way.

We would like to thank everyone who registered for our inaugural feis. We are thrilled by the huge response. We have some several notes that will help your feis experience.

Feis will NOT be cancelled...it is on regardless of weather.

First off, have fun. Please respect other dancers, judges, parents and spectators and of course our over 50 volunteers of this feis.

Please respect our facility, and especially its floors. A practice room is set up for you , but NO HARD SHOES please. Parents and teachers please advise your students that there can be no hard shoe practice anywhere in the facility. We could lose our venue for next year if this rule is not abided by. We will have security volunteers to ensure the rule is enforced and if broken dancers may be asked to leave disqualified from the feis.

Please allow for ample time to arrive. Parking is provided at the opposite side of the campus, at the Performing Arts Center parking lot, Lot W-1. We are providing a shuttle back and forth. This shuttle operates from 7:30am-7:30pm. Hours have been extended. The shuttle is operated by J&R Tours. It is not a campus shuttle There is also a foot path directly through the campus. There will be neon signs pointing the way to and from the parking lot. It is approx a 7 minute walk.

Do not park at the Physical Education facility, it is for judges, musicians, vendors and the community using its swimming pool. Please note, it is a SUNY facility, and there are university police who give out tickets and/or tow your vehicle. Parking is only allowed at the Performing Arts Center parking lot, Lot W-1.

Food and beverages will be sold and we ask that coolers are not brought into the facility. Concessions area is small, but we will have a great selection of food. We will have Bagels with butter or cream cheese, assorted dunkin donuts, irish soda bread, assorted muffins, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apples, bananas, and assorted Yoplait yogurts. and that's just breakfast!!!

NO camping in the hallways, please have all belongings in one of the three gyms. Be sure to visit our vendors there too. First Aid is available to anyone who needs it. Hopefully, no one will. Don't forget our FREE, unmonitored dress shop. We will have racks for your convenience.

Champs...SOFT shoe is first. We decided to do it first to expedite the championships quicker and avoid unnecessary shoe changes. We are pleased to announce 13 perpetual trophies being awarded.

Grades and Champs will be tabulated by FeisWeb and posted online after the feis. Entry cards will be emailed by FeisWeb. Please take advantage of this, otherwise, entry cards can be picked up at the Entry table. There is one ladies room on the second floor (main feis floor), but there is a HUGE locker room and additional restrooms on the first floor, right under the restrooms. A staircase leading down to the locker rooms is across from the bathrooms. A layout of the feis and stages can be found on the blog.

Lost and Found will be at the Entry Table. Soda bread entries are to be brought to the Concessions area.
